Black Mentors Matter is an organisation which supports children, adults and families to over come the stresses that life can throw at you.
We support people with their Mental Health & Wellbeing as well as work or career related concerns. Helping people to attain focus and to achieve their goals to the best of their ability.
Black Mentors Matter run an intense 6-week program or a 12-week program. We also support people long term if needed.
I first got into mentoring shortly after my mum passed away in 1996. At the time it was not really something I had planned but because of my family and friends I was motivated to help.
My role was to support, comfort and help them to understand what had happened and to enable them to deal with the hurt and the pain.
I went about my days talking to family and friends about how they can start to rebuild and carry on.
I would provide support whenever and wherever needed. It was very rewarding to see the turnaround that people were experiencing and seeing the peace of mind returning to everyone.
At the time I didn’t know that it would be the beginning of such a wonderful and rewarding job as a mentor.
Through my career I have had the opportunity of working in environments which placed me in the position of supporting and guiding others.
Over 30 years of being in a supportive role led me to establish Black Mentors Matter.
